DescriptionTo Thomas, son of William Bawgh of Hanley : whereas recently William granted by charter to the said Richard a certain parcel of land and meadow called from ancient time Shirpullesfeld lying in the parish of Hanley, between Blackmore End Street (Blakemorestrete) on the north and the road called Aylers End Street (Ayloresendstrete) on the south, and between the land recently belonging to William Serdes on the east and Malvern Chase (Malverne Chace) on the west, as is more fully described in a certain charter executed for the said Richard Lechemar and William Frewyn in that matter, now Richard remises and quitclaims [the land] to Thomas Bawgh, his heirs and assigns, in perpetuity. Clause excluding future claims. Sealing clause.

Seal: red wax, device of shield party per saltire, bird in each part (as Shirpullesfeld evidently lay on the western edge of the cultivated manor, where Malvern Wood began. The bright stream is presumably Northbrook, which ran through the field and provided its meadow; five acres in Syrpolebelonged to the forestership.
2. This distinctive seal is perhaps Richard Lechmere's.
