DescriptionTo Sir Robert Knottesforth priest and Oliver Knottesforth. Concerns the church of Hanley and the commodities and profits belonging to it, for three years from the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross next [3 May 1518]; with the rent to be paid in equal portions at the feast of the Holy Cross and at Michaelmas; with the lessees finding all repairs except provision of great timber, and providing a priest, to the satisfaction of the vicar, for performance of sacraments and sacramentals. The lessees are bound in the sum of ð 40 for performance of covenants in the indenture.Witnesses(on the dorse) : Sir Randel Savage, Sir Hugh Souky, Thomas Whitington esquire.

1. The rectory had been granted by Lire to Little Malvern priory in 1236; the priory appointed vicars, except on occasions when the Crown intervened, until the monks farmed the rectory to Ralph Savage, who installed John his son as vicar in September 1517
