1. This is the first example in Hanley of "bargain and sale", and perhaps an early one, since it is said to have been created by the Statute of Enrolments (1535). Such a transaction was valid without seisin, but had to be enrolled either at Westminster or in the county court. below however records the transaction in the more traditional way, and is the quitclaim.
