DescriptionGiving to John Cavill junior of the same vill his whole toftwith a parcel of orchard adjoining and the hedges surrounding it, extending in length from Roberts End Street (Robertesendestrete) on the south to the land of the said John Cavill on the north and in breadth between the land of John Cavill on the west and the land called Yemans on the east; and also three acres of arable land, with appurtenances, attached to the orchard, in length from the double fence (a sepe bina) of the said toft and orchard on the south to the land of the said John Cavill on the north and [in breadth] between the land of John Cavill once Wodwardes landeson the west and Yemans on the east; to be held with appurtenances to the said John Cavill junior, his heirs and assigns, in perpetuity, of the chief lord of those fees by the services due from the property and lawfully accustomed. 1. The word toft, which is not common in the Hanley deeds, may be used here for messuage, but it is thought at times to indicate a tenement with no actual building on it; possibly in that case it would be built on by the newly married couple
