DescriptionGiving to Roger Frewen of Forthey two acres of arable land with one parcel of meadow lying in the lordship of Hanley, of which half an acre lies in the field called Wodewell, extending in length between the land of the said Roger on each side and in breadth between the land recently belonging to Richard Baron on the north and a certain fence belonging to the said Roger on the south; one acre lies in the field called Northfield (Northefeld), extending in length between the land of Saint Clementon the west and that of the said Roger on the east, and in breadth between the land of John Pecoke on the south and that of Walter Baron on the north; and the other half acre of land lies in the field called Norleylond, extending in length between the land of Roger Wodeman on the south and the road called Morestreteon the north, and in breadth between the land recently belonging to William Frewen on the west and that recently belonging to Richard Carpenter on the east; and the parcel of meadow lies under (subtus Strongeuell, extending in length alongside the stream (rivulum) there [no other bounds given]; to be held with all appurtenances to Roger, his heirs and assigns, freely [etc] in perpetuity, of the chief lords of those fees by the services due from the land and lawfully accustomed. 1. St Clement's land here does not seem, by the boundaries, to be the same as that described in , although it is also in Northfield. The endowment was probably enlarged piecemeal over the years, but it is all in the east of the manor : Toomey, Medieval Woodland Manor, 237.
