DescriptionGiving to Richard Trygg of the same vill a parcel of meadow lying in Severn Meadow (Sevarnemede) called Boremeduwe, extending in breadth to the Severn on the east and the meadow of John Boner on the west, and in length from the meadow of Adam Porvyour on the south to that of Robert Rydde on the north, a meadow which is exchanged from year to year (de anno in annum) with another meadow called Mapelmeduwe which Richard Sierd holds; [to be held] along with the headland (hadlond) next to it on the same terms as John Heme held it; to be held with appurtenances to Richard, his heirs and assigns, freely [etc] of the chief lord of the fee by the services due from the land and lawfully accustomed. 1. Richard Seerd had bought the meadow at Mapelmeduwe; the two charters together demonstrate the complexity of these meadow arrangements. The metes and bounds of the various parcels of meadow would be marked, usually by posts, and some record must have been kept of the cropping rota, to avoid disputes.
