Edmund] recently held along with John Sampson, Henry Hanley and Maurice Waterden [all] deceased of the gift and feoffment of the said John Whytemere; to be held to Richard and Joan, their heirs and assigns, in perpetuity, of the chief lord of the fee by the services due from the property and lawfully accustomed. Witnesses: Simon Hanley, Robert Turnour, Richard Frewen, William Frewen, John Lawton and others.

Seal: red wax, device of a goat's head.

1. Edmund Rudyng was apparently the last survivor of a body of trustees who held the land to be settled on John Whytemere's daughter Joan on her marriage to Richard Lechmere, presumably not long before this charter was written (Introduction, p xvii).
