Seal: red wax (1) illegible; (2) device of letter T surmounted by a crown.

1. The detail of this charter suggests that the school had been founded in 1486 or even earlier, and that it was linked with the chantry of St Clement : the grantors are executors of Simon Hanley's will and they are granting land which they received from Nicholas Hanley, Simon's son, to a body of trustees. Part of this land (Owghley) was later (1578) seen as former chantry land (WCRO BA 6097 Ref 250.6/iii) and appears in 1523 as school land.
