DescriptionGiving to Henry Hanley of Hanley Castle and Margaret his wife two acres of land lying together in Hanley on Kyngynhyll, between the land recently belonging to Walter Barons on the north and that of Thomas Lechemer on the south, and extending in length from the land of the said Thomas Lechemer, Richard Stok and Edward Baugh on the east to that of the said Richard Stok and John Barron, recently belonging to Agnes Rowland, on the west; and also one acre of land lying in the same place, between the land of the said Thomas Lechemer on each side and extending in length from the land called Wyllymyngon the east as far as the meadow called Udmedow on the west; and also half an acre of land lying in the same place, between the land of Richard Stok on the south and that recently belonging to Walter Barrons on the north, and extending in length from a certain pasture there called Le Cokshute on the east to the land of Edward Baugh on the west; and also another half acre of land lying in the same place between the land of the said Thomas Lechemer on the west and that recently belonging to Walter Barrons on the east, and extending in length from the aforesaid Udmedow on the northto the land of Thomas Lechemer and Edward Baugh on the south; and also two selions of land lying between the land of Edward Baugh on the west and that of Richard Stok and Edward Baugh on the east, and extending in length from the meadow called Le Cokshuton the north as far as the land of Edward Baugh on the south; to be held with appurtenances to Henry and Margaret, their heirs and assigns, in pure and perpetual exchange for two acres of land lying in Hanley, county Worcester (Wigorn'), in a certain field there called Burleyfield (Burleyfeld) once belonging to William Hanley, in breadth between the land of John Lawton on each side and extending in length beyond the land of John Lawton on the south and abutting on the road leading from a certain cross there called Le Whit Crossetowards Kentin in Hanley on the north;to be held of the chief lords of the fee by the services due from the land and lawfully accustomed. 1. For Hanley's four crosses, see Introduction, p xiv and note 23. White Cross, named here for the first time, was probably a wayside cross, called White Cross because it was limewashed. Kentin Kentun?) is not mentioned otherwise, and from the evidence of the above charter it lay either east of White Cross, which would put it towards the river end of Quay Lane, or west of White Cross, which would suggest the area of Church End
