DescriptionGiving to Thomas Lechemere of Hanley county Worcester (Wigorn'), for an unspecified sum of silver paid in advance, half an acre of arable land lying in Hanley in a certain field there commonly called Lechemersfyld, between the land of Roger Stock on the east and that of the said Thomas on the west, and in length between the land of the said Thomas on both north and south; to be held to the said Thomas Lechemere, his heirs and assigns, in perpetuity, by rendering annually to Roger Badger, his heirs and assigns, 2d in silver at Michaelmas for all secular services and demands. Seal: red wax, with impression in relief, probably from an engraved gem, showing a male head, wreathed, in the classical style.1. The formula "for all secular services and demands" is an archaism here, and has not been seen since the early fourteenth century. See also Introduction, p xx.
