In this talk Prof Darren Oldridge and Dr Emma Edwards reflect on the history and science of epidemic disease in the west.  Darren will focus on perceptions of plague in Tudor and Stuart England and relate these to the recent experience of the Covid pandemic.  Emma will discuss more recent developments in our understanding of epidemics in the context of biological science.
