DescriptionGiving to John Carpynter of the same vill three selions of arable land lying in Northfield (Northfeld) in Hanley, of which two selions extend in length from the garden of Henry at the Wode on the west to the land of the said John [which?] on the east, and lie in breadth between the land of Richard Stok on the north and that of Richard Hale on the south, and the other selion lies in the same place and extends [in length] from the messuage of Simon Hanley on the west and the land of Thomas Wyse on the east, and [lies] in breadth between the land of Henry Serde on the north and that of the said Simon on the south; to be held with appurtenances to the said John, his heirs and assigns, freely [etc] in perpetuity, of the chief lord of the fee by the services due from the land and lawfully accustomed. Warranty clause. Sealing clause.Witnesses: Simon Hanley, Henry Hanley, Richard Baron, Richard Lechemer, John Tryg and others.

1. The date is given as the feast of the Holy Cross 20 Henry VI; if the Invention of the Cross is intended, rather than the Exaltation, the date will be 3 May 1442.
