Droitwich Spa is one of the three towns in the District of Wychavon. It has a thriving and vibrant community with a population of some 23,000, a wealth of history and lots to interest the visitor. Situated 6.5 miles north east of Worcester, it has easy access to the main attractions of the West Midlands.
In Roman times Droitwich was known as Salinae and the origins of salt extraction in the area go back to prehistoric times. Droitwich Spa brine exists far below the ground and emanates at the surface as springs. The brine is so salty, that the Dead Sea is the only other natural source of salt water able to equal its strength and density.
The Town Council Office is on the former Brine Baths site, first established in the 1880's. The present black and white building, known as St. Richard's House, dates from the 1930's and as well as housing the administrative hub of the Town Council also has a very friendly and welcoming Tourist Information Centre, a fascinating local history exhibition and a small but comprehensive range of brass rubbing plates.

The Town Council Offices and the Community Hall, Bus Shelters, Public seats and Town Clock (sited on the Library building),and making Bye-Laws. For Planning Matters, Wychavon District Council is the Local Planning Authority but the Town Council is one of the statutory consultees on planning applications in the Town.
Droitwich Spa Town Council has 18 Councillors covering 7 wards, and works in Partnership with several organisations and community groups at any one time.
