A significant proportion of the book is dedicated to improvements made to individual streets and the issues surround those improvements (such as acquiring the land and finances). Matters discussed include receipts and bills; various rates and audits; accounts and finances; maintenance, repair and improvements to corporation land, property and infrastructure; leases, rent and renewal for corporation properties; cemetery grants; return of lunatics chargeable to the city; resignation, appointment and salaries of council employees, council members and officers; members and duties of the sub-committees; expenses for criminal prosecutions; addresses and petitions; loans; Guildhall restoration; drainage of Claines; cattle market regulations; city cemetery, extension and burial fees; Liverpool water supply; accommodation of and donations to the museum and library; music hall, especially the restoration of the organ and charges for use; extension of city boundaries; messages of condolence; Worcester tramways; petroleum testing and licensing; fire hose reels; aid for foreign disasters; agricultural shows and music festivals; petition against William Prosser and Joseph Evans Pugh taking places in the council; sewage in the River Severn; Hackney carriages, licences and impact of shows; railway viaduct and proposed Worcester - Broom line; question as to how Charles Davis was mistakenly pronounced dead and taken to the mortuary; Worcester Cathedral School and the Charity Commission; fire at the music hall in 1881; discussion and impact of various pieces of national legislation; opening of library and museum; illness of one and attempted suicide of the other inspector of nuisances, 1881; registration of canal boats; separate assassination attempts on the American President and Queen Victoria; hosting exhibitions and loan of material to exhibitions; violence in Ireland; electric lighting; and playgrounds.
