TitleSt George's Infants School
DescriptionScrapbook of newspaper clippings kept by Bertram Brotherton, who was Head Master of the Boy's department and later Alderman of the City.

There are two themes: the first are clippings that relate to the school and its foundation, accounts, and activities (sports, inspections, syllabus, prize-giving etc), but also education and teachers on a wider scale, such as religion in schools; Church Lads' Brigade; examinations, the 'ladder of intelligence' and technical education; school meals; teachers' qualifications and salaries; juvenile working; new schools; methods of instruction and syllabus; cinema in schools; complaint against a teacher's use of corporal punishment; education committee reports and meetings; and the impact of war. Includes a few pasted-in programmes, pictures cut from magazines and photographs, such as the opening ceremony, teachers dressed up for St George's day performance in 1912, class and team photos.

The second are clippings relating to Brotherton's local history interests, especially reports from public lectures such as the reopening of Laslett's almshouses; elementary education in Worcester; and also local and national traditions and offices. Some clippings are loose and tucked into the pages.

This should not be confused with the Roman Catholic school of the same name.
