Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (1) concerns the need to fix the steps at Croome Court, stating 'I can assure you they will fall down of themselves, probably before Xmas'. He assures his mother that himself and Deerhurst [later 8th Earl of Coventry] have found the best bargain possible.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (2) talks of how Mr Laing [father of his wife Mary] cannot increase his allowance as 'the crops in Jamaica have this year entirely failed owing to incessant rain [and] made Mr L. a loser to the amount of between 9 [and] 10 thousand pounds out of his income'.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (3) talks of Weller's House being much more likeable than Levant Lodge, though he is not sure if they can afford to live there.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (4) tells that they have decided on having Mr. Weller's Place, on Deerhurst's approbation.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (5) sends thanks for a draft of £250 and promises to repay it upon receipt of a packet from Jamaica.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (6) informs of Mr Laing's death. Asks his mother not to allude to the death in the next letter as does not know how to break the news to his wife.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (7) asks for a loan of £250 as he has promised to pay several people.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (8) states the trouble he is in after not receiving the loan as requested.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (9) states he has told his wife Mary of the loss she has sustained [the death of her father].
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (10) asks Peggy to inform Deerhurst that 'they have succeeded in taking three of the Pershore Poachers, they were at work on the Park Farm', and sends thanks for the loan received. Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (11) talks of Barnes [M. W. Barnes, husband of Georgiana] being unwell.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (12) asks Peggy to forward apologies for not visting Barnes or Gana [Georgiana], but has been too busy.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (13) talks of Deerhurst being unwell. William doesn't think he will be able to attend Epsom Races unless Jane's marriage takes place in the week.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (14) talks of Mr Horton, a tenant of Mr Dunne, catching a cold and dying. Talks of the wet weather and the effects had upon the land.
Item 705:73 BA14450/289/8 (15) sends thanks for the fish received. Has got all of his wheat up, is sure that his barns and buildings have saved them 'no end of money'. Talks of the death of Mr Fildes after falling off a ladder at Strensham.
