DescriptionLetters sent by his brother in law. Item 705:73 BA14450/297/4 (1) talks of settling Lord Coventry's affair with Miss [Annie] Edwards in an amicable fashion. Item 705:73 BA14450/297/4 (2) requests that Lord Coventry asks the Duke of Wellington to confer a Consulate on him abroad. Item 705:73 BA14450/297/4 (4) talks of papers relating to Sir R G [Roger Gresley, 8th Baronet], and how 'no doubt he will be known from this time forth as "Inspiration Gresley"'. Expects to hear of his writing an address in justification of his conduct to his constituents. Item 705:73 BA14450/297/4 (5) asks Lord Coventry's opinion on the present administration and whether it will last. Pities the King for being obliged to employ those for whom he has a great dislike. Talks of his bewilderment at the policy of crossing the Channel given the high prices of houses in the neighbourhood. Item 705:73 BA14450/297/4 (7-8) further talk of the issues with Gresley. Item 705:73 BA14450/297/4 (9) refers to Cotton's loss [the theft of Sir Willoughby Cotton's writing desk, containing his military stars and badges, see item 705:73 BA14450/296/13 (13)].
