DescriptionLetter sent from Holland House, Kensington [London], which talks of the plate belonging to Lady Mary Coventry [nee Beauclerk, later Holland]. Believes she must have purchased the plate herself, though does not think she would have bought it whilst Lady Deerhurst [up to 1831] nor does he think she would have bought it after the separation [from George William, 8th Earl of Coventry, 1816]. Item 705:73 BA14450/294/8 (2) is a reply from Lord Coventry, which talks of his belief that the plate should go to him and that Lady Mary did not mention it specifically in her will as it was not really her property. States 'I was seven years old at the time of Lady Coventry's [his grandmother] death, and there was no one to look after my interests'.
