Item 705:73 BA14450/292/10 (2) is a proposed letter to Mr. Boodle from Thos. [Thomas] Graham, sent from Lincoln's Inn [London], which talks of the proposed marriage settlement between George William Coventry, Viscount Deerhurst [later 8th Earl of Coventry] and Lady Mary Beauclerk.
Item 705:73 BA14450/292/10 (3) is a letter from Gilb. [Gilbert] Jones to the 7th Earl of Coventry, sent from Salisbury Square, London, concerning the draft marriage settlement aforementioned, with particular reference to the settlement made in 1788 by Sir Henry Etherington [Sir Henry had no children and he settled his estates in Yorkshire on his niece and ward Jane (Mary) Moses (d.1800), the daughter of John and Margaret Moses of Hull. Jane went on to marry Aubrey, sixth Duke of St Albans and after her death the Etherington estates were settled on her daughter Lady Mary Beauclerk, future wife of George William, Lord Deerhurst and 8th Earl of Coventry. As this was Lord Deerhurst's second marriage, there was already an heir to the Coventry title (subsequently the ninth Earl) by his first marriage. It appears, therefore, that the former Etherington estates then passed to the eldest son of this second marriage with Lady Mary Beauclerk, Henry Amelius Coventry (1815-1873) succeeded by his son, Henry Amelius Beauclerk Coventry (1842-1885) and subsequently his grandson, Henry Robert Beauclerk Coventry (1871-1953).]
