Item 705:73 BA14450/290/2 (2) acknowledges receipt of his son's letter, but asks 'the favour of you not to distress me by continuing any further correspondence on the same subject'. [See also items 705:73 BA14450/287/7 (1-20) sent from 7th Earl to his step mother Lady Barbara, Countess of Coventry in which he talks of seeking his father's forgiveness.]
Item 705:73 BA14450/290/2 (3) informing his son that he intends to spend the coming weeks between Spring Hill and Croome Court, gout willing, and that he and a limited number of his family will be welcome there for part of that time.
