It is possible that this letter relates to the Excise Bill of the time which was very unpopular. A later hand has pencilled March 1732 as the date.

3. Letter to Lord Coventry [from Sir Thomas Lyttelton] relating to a perceived lack of support, [1734]

Sir Thomas threw up the contest for the seat for Worcestershire in 1734 because of Lord Coventry's lack of support.

4. Copy of part of a letter to L[or]d Coventry 'from my father [Sir Thomas Lyttelton] writt Septm the 24th 1740 in answer to one from his Lordship dated Sep 23' relating to how the expenses should be paid depending on whether Sir Thomas's son gets elected or not.

The copy looks to be in George Lyttelton's handwriting and may relate to George's candiditure.

Viscount Deerhurst and George Lyttelton both campaigned in the 1741 election for Worcestershire but neither were successful.

14 Letter to my Lord [Coventry?] from T[homas] L[yttelton congratulating his Lordship on his success and referring to letters written in the past relating to his misfortune at the expense of his Lord's father, [late 1740s?]

The letter may be referring to Sir Thomas's withdrawal from the election in 1732.
