This comprises almost entirely of reports received from the various other committees and sub-committees (some annual reports are glued-in printed copies), or matters that are to be forwarded to them for discussion. Matters discussed include bills, specifying those to be paid, the work or goods supplied and the amount; rates and their assessment and audit; lighting the street lamps; rent, leases, alterations and maintenance of corporation land and property; cemetery grants, giving name, residence, plots and amount paid by those reserving burial plots; resignation, appointment and salaries of council employees, council members and officers; addresses and gifts to royalty; rates; costs of prosecuting and maintaining prisoners; improvements to the markets; costs of maintaining inmates of the county and city lunatic asylum (some names given); registration of voters; investigations into inadequacies of prison accommodation and eventual amalgamation of county and city gaols; proposed installation of a sewer to remove a nuisance in Paynes Meadow; Union Assessment Act; copies of petitions from the Corporation; closure and restricted opening hours of cemeteries, and statistics on use and capacity; Hackney carriages and drivers licenses; inspection of and recommendations on preserving the council's records; nuisance at chemical manure works at Diglis; unrelated serious assault on one police officer and accidental drowning of another; widening the streets; audit of accounts; railways; appointment of magistrates; duties and responsibilities of the officers and committees; Post Office relocation; public baths; pleasure grounds; extension of water works; registration of voters; schools; and the enfranchisement of Corporation property.
