A significant proportion of the book is dedicated to improvements made to individual streets and the issues surround those improvements (such as acquiring the land and finances). Matters discussed include receipts and bills; various rates and audits; accounts and finances; leases, maintenance, repair and improvements to corporation land, property and infrastructure; cemetery grants; resignation, appointment and salaries of council employees, council members and officers; members and duties of the sub-committees; addresses and petitions; loans; aid for foreign disasters; Worcester Cathedral School and the Charity Commission; improvements at the cattle market; improvements, shows and overcrowding issues regarding the public hall; Worcester tramways; proposed Manchester Ship Canal; organ to replace the one destroyed by fire in the public hall; superannuation; extensions to mains water and sewerage; proposed electric lighting; salmon fisheries; purchase and auction of corporation property; alterations to police premises; agricultural show; reception of patients into the various hospitals in Worcester; by-laws concerning bicycles, tramways etc; canal boat registration; extension of city boundary and division into districts; messages of condolence; Hebbs almshouse charity; complaint that two children died from smallpox contracted in Barbourne Hospital; annual licenses for petroleum storage, tramway drivers, Hackney carriages, etc; prosecution of Henry George, former Treasurer, over accounting irregularities; weighing machines; women's suffrage; opening of the museum, tram operation, selling of alcohol etc on Sundays; national refuge harbours; various exhibitions, festivals and shows either held in or with participation by Worcester; communication with Worcester, Massachusetts; Great Western Railway at Shrub Hill; visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales, 1884; public bathing; discussion and impact of various pieces of national legislation; Pitchcroft land use and proposed purchase; and appointment of additional magistrates.
