TitleChamber Order Book
DescriptionRough copy of the Chamber Order book. Matters discussed include the election, replacement and disciplining of officers; surveys, maintenance, leases and encroachments (purprestures) of municipal land, thoroughfares and property; taxes, loans and payments made by and to the city.

The minutes are recorded roughly with some crossing out and corrections and there is also an indication of how many were present. Names of absentees are occasionally recorded, as are the numbers voting for or against a motion. Very unusual donkey watermark on page 27.

Some pencil annotations and underlining from the twentieth century, usually dates, person and place names, or difficult to read words.

The pages at the front and back of this volume had suffered extensive damage and some are lost. This has been repaired by a conservator and has been bound in three folios. The covers and spine have been retained but are much later than the seventeenth century.
