Matters discussed include: registration and/or inspections of common lodging houses, slaughterhouses, provision of privies and water closets in residential buildings etc; drainage and facilities for disposal of offal from slaughterhouses; appointment and duties of the committee, sub-committees and officers; creation of bye-laws; responsibilities of the Inspector of Nuisances; complaints received about nuisances and Inspector of Nuisances report; reports on drainage, cleanliness and water supply in various parts of the city; site, construction and opening of new burial ground and cemetery buildings for the city; names and addresses of men applying for jobs at the cemetery; outbreak of fever; and a complaint against the inspector.

With list of annual appointments to the committee in the front of the volume. Those proposing or seconding motions are recorded, and later entries occasionally specify voting decisions. Some letters received have been copied out in full, particularly concerning the new cemetery and associated buildings.
