Matters discussed include: establishment and minutes of sub-committees; the keeping of livestock; slaughterhouses; drainage, sewerage and water supplies; public bathing facilities; Maternity and Child Welfare, including action to recover doctors' fees, vaccination and school medical services; staffing; analysis of food, milk and water supply for adulteration, contamination or misleading advertising; offensive trades; maintenance and running of the Hospitals, including medical supplies and patient fees; nuisances reported; infectious diseases; overcrowding, poor housing conditions and slum clearance with individual council houses and tenants discussed; Tuberculosis; wartime evacuees; and other issues concerning public health including national legislation and health campaigns.

With letters from 1953 requiring information about the clearances tucked inside the earlier volume.
