DescriptionVolume 1 covers 1861 - 1874; volume 2 covers 1874 - 1884. Minutes of the committees. The special committees were established for a limited period to discuss matters such as food adulteration, the gaol, income and expenditure, the free library, pleasure grounds, decoration for special events, schools (including Cathedral School and industrial schools), gas, railways, festivals and visiting dignitaries, boundary extensions, membership of other committees for the upcoming year and other matters. Usually the committee is investigating the issues in order to be in a position to recommend a particular course of action during a usual council meeting. Includes pasted in copies of newspaper reports, letters received, dietary and staffing information for the prisons and workhouse.
