DescriptionA volume of "Lieutenancy Meetings Volunteer Cavalry", 1796 - 1800, which contains the minutes of the meetings. Matters discussed include suitable dress for the cavalry, its provision and costs; appointment of an officer to command the cavalry; volunteers and balloted men, and the costs associated with each; dates and places all over the county for enrollment of volunteers and mustering; copies of letters received; and procedures for allowances to men and compensation for dead or lame horses. Signed by each of the men present. The raising of troops was probably as a result of Napoleon's military actions on the continent.
