Includes notable events and buildings, and catalogues, transcriptions of monuments and extracts from other documents. With lists of subscribers and engravings and maps. The books were, according to an inscription and letters dated 1937 glued inside the front cover, donated to the Council by Gertrude Smith. Some pages are annotated, partly attributed to James Ross, an engraver contemporary with the publication.
