DescriptionA booklet entitled 'Civic Exhibition 22nd - 27th September 1947' and includes a description of the roles and responsibilities of the City Council's departments, including statistics and photographs. With six black and white photographs of the exhibition inside the Guildhall, before it opened to the public. They show the stalls running the length of the Chamber, and are taken so as to show the whole exhibition from various angles, usually from the middle-distance to include all of the stall. There are two close-ups, of the Treasurer's Dept, showing a man setting up one of the accounting machines, and the Town Clerk's Dept with its display of costumes, charters and crockery, watched over by a uniformed policeman. The particular focus of the exhibition was the Town Clerk's Department, City Engineer, Electricity, Health, Education, Weights and Measures, and the Libraries, Art Gallery and Museum. The booklet also covered Police and Public Assistance.
