TitleCourt of Pleas
DescriptionThese were minor courts which heard lesser civil actions, such as debt recovery, detinue and covenant. It was the third highest common law court for over 600 years until its abolition in 1875 as a result of a reorganisation of the judicial system.

The documents are nominally bundled into decades and organised roughly by date the plea was filed, with documents relating to the same case grouped together where identifiable. A significant number of documents fell outside the dates identified on the box, and due to time contraints it has not been possible to re-insert documetns into their correct place by date. The runs are not complete and several years are missing. Those falling under the double-dating periods are groups according to the date on the document. Those pre-dating 1733 are in Latin.
