A piece of paper wrapped around the journal bears the words 'The diary of a Lady who knew Lord Cov: well - to trace of the name of the author' [handwriting of Col. Dudley Smith], further writing notes 'Ann-Margaret Wright Daughter of 6th Earl and Maria Gunning, sister of 7th Earl'. It is not known how this diary has been attributed to Ann Margaret Wright.
