TitleWorcester Courts
DescriptionIncludes records from the Court of Pleas, Quarter Sessions, Consistory Court and Court Leet. The jurisdiction for the City of Worcester, for the Court of Pleas, is refered to in a charter of 1395 as having previously existed.

The Town Clerk was a Solicitor and undertook all legal work on behalf of the Corporation, including Prosecuting Solicitor for the City. Justices of the peace were members of the 24, including (at various times) those holding the offices of bailiff, aldermen, recorder, town clerk and mayor. Some Justices' records are in the liber recordum. From 1621 an Eschaetor was appointed annually, reporting to the Exchequer the forfeitures or escheates that fell to the crown.
