TitleWorcester School Board
Description0.288 cubic metres of records of the Worcester School Board, kept by the Clerk to the School Board (Mr Frederick Marcus, succeeded by Mr Flower Spackman). The majority of the documents do not relate to either the daily running of the school nor to the pupils, with the exceptions being a handful of log books and some letters concerning individual pupils who came to the attention of the Board for whatever reason. The records cover the legal status of elementary education; construction of the schools; employment and education of staff; financial records; subjects taught; celebrations; and health and welfare schemes such as the Penny Dinners.

Most of the records were in no discernable order. Some records were separated out into 'Exhibition Boxes' and it was impossible to establish where many of them originally came from. Some of the letters had been bundled by year and sometimes by subject or, more rarely, by sender. Where this was the case, the arrangement has been preserved; however this was a minority of the letters. Most were loose and had not been grouped together. Where there has been a discussion about a particular subject, or where one individual has entered into lengthy correspondence, an attempt has been made to group the records together. Otherwise they have been bundled together chronologically.

Duplicates have been removed.
